Message 13/10 from North Cotswolds Watch
Office at Stow.
Overnight between 28/02 & 01/03, three burglaries occurred in Northleach. Unknown person(s) entered a cottage in West End by reaching through the cat flap in the rear door and accessing the key. A ladies purse, containing cash and bank cards, was taken, along with a small amount of jewellery. The office at Northleach Court was entered after the window was forced but nothing appears to have been taken. A garage at Brook Close was broken into and some tools were stolen, possibly to assist with breaking into Northleach Court. If anyone saw or heard anything suspicious during this time, they are asked to contact Stow Police on 0845 090 1234. Anyone with information regarding who may have been responsible for these offences can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Sometime between 12/02/10 and 26/02/10 unknown offender(s) stole approx. 2000 litres of heating oil from a storage tank at the Fox Inn. This follows a similar incident around mid-February, when 1250 litres of oil were taken from a tank at Broadwell Church. NW members in the area should be aware that storage tanks are again being targeted and those with tanks should review their security arrangements. Contact Stow Police Station on 0845 090 1234 for a copy of a useful advice leaflet. *** Our number for non-emergencies 0845 090 1234 - and it is charged at local rate.

With the continuing very cold weather and dangerous conditions underfoot, we should be mindful of the needs of our many elderly and vulnerable residents. In particular, they may feel unable to venture out to get essential food shopping or collect medicines etc. It is likely that arrangements already exist in many areas to check on the well-being of our older and vulnerable neighbours and to provide such support as is necessary. Where this is not the case, it would be nice to think that Neighbourhood Watch could take the lead, using local knowledge to identify those at risk and those who may be able to provide help, either with time or the availability of suitable 4x4 vehicles. I know that you will want to do what you can, in these exceptional circumstances. 3rd November 2009

Watch Office at Stow Police Station.
It has only been 10 days since the end of BST but already there has been a significant increase in the number of burglaries reported to the police from across the Cotswolds. NW members are urged to remember the followings tips to make life harder for the opportunist burglar. Fit timers to one or two lights to give the appearance that the house is occupied, even if it isn't! Use window and door locks at all times and consider additional external dusk-to-dawn lighting. Ensure that all garden tools and furniture are put away and that sheds and garages are secure. If you have a garage, it is also worthwhile putting your car away at night and remember not to leave car keys indoors in easy-to-find locations.

Neighbourhood Watch and Rural Watch members in the Bourton area are asked to look out for a white Ford Transit SWB van, registration number LB53DVH. Stow Police have received several reports in the last couple of days that the two male occupants of this vehicle are calling at isolated premises, asking if the occupiers are interested in buying a new double bed. The latest report came from Bourton-on-the-Water at 1130 hrs today. It is not known at this stage if the van did, in fact, contain a bed, or whether this was just an excuse for being on the premises. Please report any sightings of this vehicle to Glos Police immediately on 0845 090 1234, quoting Incident 193 of 13/10/09, if possible.
This is Message 45/09 from North Cotswolds
Watch Office at Stow. Last month we told you about thefts that were
occurring at churches in the Cotswolds and also asked for your help in
finding a silver Vauxhall that was seen near to a house burglary at
Broadwell. Further enquiries revealed that these incidents were
connected and we can now tell you that a 47 year old male is currently
in custody, helping officers from this and adjoining forces with their
investigations into a number of burglary offences
9th Sept. 2009
Neighbourhood Watch and Rural Watch members
are urged to look out for a vehicle that was seen at a burglary in
Broadwell yesterday afternoon. A witness is sure that the car was a
Vauxhall Astra or Vectra. It was silver in colour and the registration
number began VU06. It is possible that this vehicle is being used by a
male who is wanted for questioning in connection with a number of
burglaries in the Warwickshire/Gloucestershire area. If you see a
vehicle in suspicious circumstances that may fit this description,
please note the complete registration number and contact Glos Police on
0845 090 1234 or via the 999 service. Please quote Inc.No. 209 of

Message 39/09 from North Cotswolds Watch
Office at Stow.
Over the past week or so, a number of reports have been received regarding thefts of cash from churches throughout the Cotswolds. Local churchwardens are asked to review their cash handling and collection arrangements. Look out for any unfamiliar vehicles parked near local churches and to note any registration numbers, should the need for such information become necessary subsequently. The presence of any unfamiliar persons in suspicious circumstances should also be noted and details passed to the police straightaway
